English Speaking Weekend Conference "Body, Affect, Representation"
English Speaking Weekend Conference 2018
Body - Affect - Representation
- Psychoanalytic Dialogues -
28-30 September 2018
Royal College of Physicians, London
The conference will explore, in three panels over 1 1/2 days, the vicissitudes of affects and the capacity to develop mental representations in relation to the body, in clinical work in adult and child analysis. Affects, rooted in the body, profoundly influence the functioning of body and mind, as does the quality or lack of the capacity to hold representations. The speakers will explore these issues in the areas pain, self-harm and violence; autism and autistic defences; and psychosomatics. Two clinical papers will be presented in each panel, followed by an open dialogue between the speakers and with the audience.
Christine Anzieu-Premmereur, Catalina Bronstein, Donald Campbell, Maria Rhode, Jonathan Sklar and Megan Virtue
In addition to the main conference on 29 and 30 September, there will be optional clinical seminars and a welcome reception on 28 September as well as a party after the conference on Saturday 29 September.
